SAGDA CEO, Ms. Elizabeth Montshiwa shares SAGDA’s relief response in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic. SAGDA and its Graduate members are committed to redirecting efforts towards assisting with the battle against this pandemic.

Through the Relief Response Programme, SAGDA and its graduate members have committed to redirecting our efforts towards assisting with the battle against outbreaks and pandemics. We are committed to developing and supporting valuable multi-pronged interventions in historically disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa helping the government, communities, businesses, and learners to mitigate the disruptive impact of an outbreak.

Through a partnership cemented with an MOU between SAGDA and stakeholders, we are mobilizing all our assets and capabilities as well as reaching out to potential partners in response to unprecedented challenges presented by an outbreak.

The programmes aim to achieve the following:

  • Co-ordinate, plan, implement and monitor strategies to reduce an outbreak
  • Educate, empower communities, and raise awareness towards achieving containment
  • Resource prevention mechanisms to arrest or reduce further transmission, prevent outbreaks, and delay spread
  • Mobilize and manage resources required to minimize the spread of an outbreak.

Strategic Implementation Partnership Programme


The objective of SAGDA’s Strategic Implementing Partnership Programme is to form strategic partnership and collaboration with other partners as an Implementing partner on SAGDA’s strategic objectives and programmes offerings.

Our business modules encapsulate development and transformation as the “desirability” aspects of value propositions which can be coupled with impact investment opportunities for SAGDA.

We employ various models in rolling out strategy pillars and programmes offering. Our core model involves building enterprising through ‘Intrapreneurship’. In this case, Intrapreneurship refers to the use of an existing SAGDA business and brand to provide alternative products and services to paying clients; whilst at the same time, capacitating inexperienced graduates, youth, and the community.

SAGDA identifies key clients (which can also be partners) who need goods and services which can potentially be provided by SAGDA, then SAGDA identifies talented individuals (both experienced and inexperienced) to from small subsidiaries which will in turn be used to provide the services needed.

Unemployment is a matter that concerns the whole country and it affects the growth of the economy and its overall development. Through stakeholder support, partnerships and collaboration, the following are results:

  • Improved employment opportunities
  • Empowered and developed young people through building the capacity and skill
  • Economic growth and social development
  • A skilled and capable workforce that can contribute to an inclusive growth path of our country.

Economic Solidarity For Socio Economic Transformation Programme


SAGDA aims to resuscitate, materialize existing projects, and build relationships with local co-operatives in the surrounding areas to address the issue of unemployment in both urban and rural areas and assist help the youth to benefit from the projects.

In so doing, we bring out the core roots and history of various rural areas while addressing the unemployment rate in villages by providing tangible solutions through SAGDA’s model, which is exponential impact, collaboration, eco-systems, massive transformative purpose & economic solidarity, and through SAGDA’s multi-sided platform that connects the graduates, employers and stakeholders.

SAGDA collaborates with various Tribal Councils and co-operates in the following areas:

  • Provision of Farming Land for implementation of Agricultural Projects
  • Resource mobilization and proposal writing
  • Promote subsistence Organic Farming in communities to increase food security
  • Implementing functional and technical skills for graduates and the community in Farming and related industries
  • Implement Enterprises Development training
  • Expose graduates and the community to opportunities through the agricultural value chain

  • Establishing SMME’s /Cooperatives

SAGDA_Community Development

Community Development Programme


As a primary objective to our service program, SAGDA hopes to develop young graduates as caring, confident, and successful citizens and to inspire them to lead a lifetime of civic engagement. Through our graduate led program, children and youth can learn and deepen their belief that they can be the change they want to see in the world.
The following program incorporate core values of the organisation such as integrity, efficiency, accountability, partnerships, and professionalism.


Central to our mission and values (to create innovative economic solutions for graduates, employment, self – sustainability and social transformation) SAGDA’s school and after school partnerships seek to enhance learners’ hand-on, civic skills while simultaneously improving behaviour and development and increasing academic performance.

SAGDA Interns serve in schools and after school programs and tutors, mentors, teachers’ aides, and coordinators.

Our service to schools includes the following:

Standard element: academic support consisting of one-on one tutoring, teacher assistance and teaching a specific curricula such as social issues , learners civic engagement consisting of helping to create and advise learners to run reading clubs, school service clubs, mediation programs, peer to peer tutoring, parents and community engagement, parents outreach and recruitment of parents and community to serve in schools.


SAGDA interns will be responsible to support, mentor, and guide community-based organisations on the following:

Executive Leadership – Ensuring that performance management system is in place and being used effectively, specifically this entails:

  • Setting organisational strategy (together with the board of directors)
  • Updating the employee handbook and communicating changes
  • Annually, in writing communicate current strategy and plans, reminders, and guidance of deadlines to complete employees annual goal setting and review
  • Ensuring evaluations of their staff are professionally written and accurate by reviewing them and providing feedback and coaching as appropriate
  • Ensure that their programs speak to their goals and objectives.


Visitors Programme


SAGDA visitors programme showcase the action of SAGDA and engages visitors in the Ideas and programme on which we are working. The visitors’ program in a critical element of what we do.

SAGDA is a heart –felt programme and the synergy and passion of our organisation must be witnessed and felt at first hand. The visitors program inspires, motivates, and encourages leaders from prestigious positions to influence decisions that will help improve the life of unemployed graduates in South Africa.

The Visitors Programme consists of the following:


A round table consist of the guest between five and 6 interns, key staff and if possible external partners .the discussion begin with an ice breaker followed by introductions and interns talk about why they feel is important to have SAGDA and the difference they make in their arrears of service and what motivates them to serve in their respective organisations.

Roundtables can range from formal (where interns meet with corporate sponsors, public officials, etc.) to informal (where they meet with potentials applicants, executive staff etc.) Regardless of the setting, the round table is an important tool to share information and ideas of SAGDA with those around us.


SAGDA Training

Training & Development / Recruitment & Placement Programme


The programme aims to develop, mentor, capacitate, produce sustainable and economically active graduates.


The programme in which the students from various Institutions (TVET, Universities) are given a chance to go and do Experiential Work in the companies in order to obtain their respective qualifications. Internship is when the graduates who already have the qualifications will go to the company and do practical work experience to enhance their careers.

Our primary reasons are:

  • Addressing weakness: every graduate is weak at a certain skill and every graduate will not be perfect in their areas of competency.
  • Improving performance: once the graduate acquires the desired skill required for the task to execute, their weakness will turn into their strength and they will get a better understanding of how to execute with better ideas.
  • Fostering growth: the main aim of SAGDA is to get development and growth for the effect it put of the graduates. Growth can be achieved if all the work force of the organisation pays equal attention to development by providing training to the graduates, by so doing, we are providing them with space to learn and grow.
  • Enhancing satisfaction: graduates will feel confident in gaining skills, training helps the graduates to perform tasks easily and, they can also innovate new strategies to improve their lives. This builds some level of satisfaction in graduates.



One weeklong internal training is a great and important week for our interns just before they are officially placed to an internship program. This week is a moment of setting a “vision for their life”, and sometimes we need to allow ourselves to be still, listen to ourselves, to dream, to feel and not just to exist! , this week long program gives an opportunity to all graduates participating to introspect and stretch.

BLSR will therefore begin with organisation orientation followed by an intense life skills and leadership workshops to team building challenges, we do this so as to prepare our interns to work environment and provide them with skills to work under and with a diverse group of people.

By managing experiential learning, SAGDA can collect and analyse data from the experiences hat learners and host organisations report. This assists with monitoring and evaluation and the subsequent improvements to be made regarding future programmes. It also helps to support learners in ensuring that they negotiate relevant work that helps them to grow by putting into practice what they learned in their programmes.


An interview is an opportunity for potential employer to know you better, how well you interact with the interviewing panel and how do you describe your work history and education. An interview is an opportunity for you to know about the corporate culture. Are they strait-laced, laid-back, do they seem to like your approach or feel stand-offish? Ideally an interview should be a good tool for both parties, Is it a good fit


SAGDA’s belief is that a year of internship cannot only change the quality of your career choice, but it can change the individual as well. We know that there is more to leadership than skills and knowledge: SAGDA therefore can leave a room for reflection; too. Graduates must ask themselves: What is their personal mission statement? What are their core values? What are their goals for the year? Their answers to these questions will not only influence their time at an internship Programme, but their lives after an internship Programme.

SAGDA Research

Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Programme


The research and evaluation department oversee the collection of both qualitative and quantitative performance data of graduates and programs and the management of major impact studies evaluating SAGDA. With rigorous and systematic assessment, SAGDA seeks to:

  • Document success and evaluate progress we have made to help drive the social Development movement in this country.
  • Demonstrate performance at individual community development sites and development of programs which enhance civic engagement of children and youth as well as SAGDA members/graduates.
    SAGDA is especially excited about five evidence of impact studies:
    1. Alumni Study – determining the effects and influence that SAGDA has made on our former SAGDA graduates
    2. Partnerships Study – Gathering and analyzing in-depth case studies of SAGDA corporate and service partnerships to develop a model for the best practices and strategies for delivering an optimal generation of social engagement.
    3. Community Study – measuring the community impact of our most standardized and popular community program to deliberately identify how the program impacts our graduates, motivation, and capacity for civic engagement
    4. Training: data collection, data analysis, researchers, content development, content writers a and field workers
    5. Impact and relevance of career development: we anticipate the findings of these evidence of impact studies will be available by end of 2020.


Innovation Through Exponential Technology Programme


This programme aims to enhance the users’ availability of technical resources (laptops, desktops, software’s, printers, internet connection, telephone systems) and maintenance of computer network systems within SAGDA. Its primary function is to ensure that the network runs smoothly, maintained and resources are available for the users to deliver on their mandate.

For SAGDA to become an exponential organisation it needs to harness the technologies, and platforms of the 4th Industrial Revolution in delivery of SAGDA programmes and achieving our massive transformative purpose.
