The Office of the Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Thamsanqa Maqubela has been the Chief Executive Officer of SAGDA since November 2010. The Chief Executive Officer’s position has been vacant for three years, after the departure of Mr. Vukile Nkabinde in 2007.
Mr. Maqubela is a full time Executive who brought a new membership strategy to SAGDA.
His mandate is to:
- Professionalize the operations of the organization;
- Build a solid revenue structure and sustainable income;
- Formalize relations with strategic public and private sector partners;
- Grow SAGDA’s footprint nationally to empower students prepare for the world of work and place graduates into meaningful internships and jobs;
His business acumen and experience as an executive in higher education gives him the edge to take SAGDA to a higher level. Within few months as at the helm, Mr. Maqubela attracted the membership of institutions such as Investec, University of Pretoria, University of Cape Town, merSETA, Foodbev to mention but a few.
He served higher education for 10 years as Head of International Relations at the VUT and CEO of Unitech (MACE). His communication and strategy competencies are aces to his leadership attributes.
